The California Civil Defense Institute exists to defend citizens against abusive government power through legal action, public records work, policy research, and citizen education. We help Californians expose misconduct, challenge unlawful systems, and fight back when government power is used against the people it is supposed to serve. CCDI has earned Candid’s Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level of nonprofit transparency recognition. Fewer than 1% of U.S.-based nonprofits hold this distinction. That means our mission, leadership, programs, strategy, and impact metrics are publicly available for donor review.
